Knowledge of 8th and 9th grade elementary school students about reproductive health
CHRSTOŠOVÁ, Vlasta
The Bachelor thesis entitled Knowledge of pupils in 8th and 9th grades in primary schools about reproductive health focuses on the level of awareness of pupils aged 13 -16 about the issues of menstruation, safe sex, contraception, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis describes health and its division into reproductive and sexual. It also describes the reproductive organs of women and men, menstrual periods and menstrual devices, sexual intercourse, and the possibilities offemale and male contraception, as adolescents need to know how to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. There are therefore individual chapters devoted precisely to sexually accurate diseases, pregnancy and abortion. The final chapter deals with the education of pupils on reproductive health issues and the role of midwives in the educational process. In the research part of the bachelor s thesis, a quantitative method was chosen as the method of research investigation. The data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to respondents on the social networking site Facebook. The questionnaire consisted of 36 questions, of which 23 were closed, 12 were semi-closed and 1 was open. The data obtained was processed and evaluated using Microsoft Excel and SPSS computer programs. Graphs showing the responses of boys and girls in the 8th and 9th grades of primary schools have been produced for each question. The research pool consisted of 101 respondents. Of the 8th grade, a total of 36 respondents were 7 boys and 29 girls. Of the 9th grade, a total of 65 respondents were 13 boys and 52 girls. The aim of this work was to find out what boys and girls of the 8th and 9th grades had knowledge about reproductive health, i.e. menstruation, safe sex, contraception, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. 3 hypotheses have been established for the research part. The first hypothesis was to determine whether girls in 8th grade had greater knowledge of reproductive health than boys in the same year. This hypothesis has been disproved. The second hypothesiswas to determine whether girls in the 9th grade had greater knowledge of reproductive health than boys in the same year. The second hypothesis was disproved. The third hypothesis looked at whether 9th graders had greater knowledge of reproductive health than 8th graders. This hypothesis has been confirmed.
Awareness of sexually transmitted diseases and their prevention among women of reproductive age
VEBEROVÁ, Veronika
The thesis deals with the topic of sexually transmitted diseases. It is divided into a theoretical and a practical parts. The theoretical part describes particular sexually transmitted diseases, their impact on the fetus and new-born babies and prevention too. As well as that, The Register of sexually transmitted diseases and the role of a midwife, as far as education is concerned, are also mentioned in this part. Two goals were set for the practical part of the thesis. The first was to chart the rate of fertile-age women´s awareness of sexually transmitted diseases and their prevention. The second goal was to chart fertile-age women´s awareness of the impact of sexually transmitted diseases on the fetus and new-born babies. The thesis stated 3 hypotheses: H1: Women of higher age are better informed about sexually transmitted diseases than younger women. H2: Women of higher age are better informed about the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases than younger women. H3: Women of higher age are better informed about the impact of sexually transmitted diseases on the fetus and new-born babies than younger women. The goals were achieved with the help of a quantitative research carried out in the form of an online questionnaire, which I created on my own. The questionnaire contained 35 closed and a half-closed questions. The questionnaire was designed in the form of a test. The correct answer got 1 point, the wrong answer or "I don´t know" answer got 0 points. The final assessment of the questionnaire was carried out with Kruskal-Wallis statistical test. The research cohort consisted of 245 fertile-age women, who were divided into 3 age groups: 15-26 years old, 27-35 years old, 36-49 years old. The questionnaire was sent to groups uniting teenagers, pregnant women, and mothers on the social network Facebook. Most respondents belonged to the age group 27-35. The research showed that there is no relation between the age of the respondents to their knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases, prevention and the impact on the fetus and new-born babies. No hypothesis were proved. Neither relation to the highest achieved education was proved. Higher rate of awareness was identified with the women whose education or jobs are related to health care. On the contrary, the respondents lacking educational or professional experience with the health care system reached worse results on average. The research proved that women are insufficiently informed about sexually transmitted diseases, in general. Therefore, it is vitally important to focus on consistent education not only at schools, but in GP surgeries as well.
Access to sexual healthcare is a feminist issue: Analysis of queer- friendliness and accessibility of STI testing clinics in Berlin, Germany
Vymlátilová, Anna ; Sokolová, Věra (advisor) ; Dvořáčková, Jana (referee)
This Diploma thesis explores the issue of queer femmes' access to sexual healthcare, and specifically focuses on the current situation of accessibility of sexual healthcare centers in Berlin. Written in constructivist paradigm, it is built on intersectional feminist theory, as well as post-colonial and disability studies. By employing autoethnographic research, the author aims to review local sexual healthcare facilities by describing her own experience, supplemented by questionnaires and interviews. Sharing intimate details of her own visits during which the author was tested or treated for sexually transmitted infections, she attempts to "queer" academic practice and present an approachable and highly personal body of work that embraces the researcher's subjectivity and entangled position. Apart from presenting findings of the research, this thesis also aims to offer possible solutions on how to make sexual healthcare more accessible to queer femmes, and includes the author's plans as a sex educator. Keywords: sexual healthcare, STIs, queer femmes, sexual health, autoethnography
Infection in pregnancy
KŘÍŽOVÁ, Hana
This bachelor thesis on the topic of infection in pregnancy is divided into theoretical and research part. The roles of a midwife in the field of infection in pregnancy are described in the theoretical part. Furthermore there is description of chosen bacterial, viral and parasitic infections that is based on professional literature. Symptoms, diagnostics, therapy in pregnancy and the influence of infection on pregnancy or foetus are characterised for every type of infection. The research part of this bachelor theses focuses on the finding of knowledge of pregnant women and mothers of one or more children about infectious diseases in pregnancy and their prevention. We were also investigating, if women were informed about infections in pregnancy and their prevention during prenatal care, then who provides them the information and to what extent. Quantitative research was chosen for the research investigation and the data were collected with the technique of questionnaire survey. Distribution of the questionnaires was made electronically. Total amount of respondents was 140, of which 86 were primiparas and 54 were multiparas. The collected data were processed in Microsoft Excel 2010 programme and to verify the validity of hypothesis the chi-quadrate test with 5% level of importance was used. The research showed that multiparas have more knowledge than primiparas. Hypothesis 1, which presupposed that awareness of prevention of infectious diseases in pregnancy of multiparas is higher than of primiparas, was confirmed. Hypothesis 2, which presupposed that the awareness of multiparas of the impact of infectious diseases on foetus is higher than of primiparas was confirmed as well. However, one disturbing finding was that pregnant women are in most cases not informed about the prevention and impact of infections in pregnancy during their prenatal care. Hypothesis 3 presupposed that midwives educate the primiparas more than multiparas and this hypothesis was not confirmed. According to the results of this research, it is necessary to put greater emphasis on the education of pregnant women in the field of infections in pregnancy and this education should be provided by both midwives and doctors during prenatal care. The emphasis should be put mostly on prevention and in the case of occurrence of some infection the emphasis should be laid on early treatment of infection. This bachelor thesis can be used as educational material for pregnant women or for women, who are planning to get pregnant. The thesis can also become a source of information for students of healthcare fields, for midwives and for other healthcare staff.

Reproductive health of adolescent girls.
ŠTACHOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis deals with the reproductive health of adolescent girls. Reproductive health is a relatively young concept, its issue is topical and should be the prime concern of the whole society. The theoretical basis of this thesis was to show the essential concept of reproductive health among adolescent girls with a specific focus on the latest problems. Therefore, the introductory part is divided into several subheads. First of them is addressed to reproductive health. It includes an introduction to the reproductive health problems, a brief description of women´s reproductive organs, basic information about the menstrual cycle and personal hygiene. The second subhead is addressed to factors that damage the reproductive health. Attention was focused on gynecological infections, sexually transmitted diseases, cervical cancer and breast cancer. In the third subhead were analysed maturing problems focused on physical and mental changes, the development of sexuality, adolescent risk behavior syndrom and information about contraception. The last subhead pays attention to education by a midwife. It contains the theoretical basis of training and efficiently focuses on reproductive health education. Three study objectives were determined. The first one was to explore the level of knowledge of reproductive health among female students of secondary grammar schools and secondary vocational schools. For this objective was chosen Hypothesis 1: Female students of secondary grammar schools have better knowledge about reproductive health than female students of secondary vocational schools. The second objective was to learn what are the main sources of information for above mentioned students. For this objective were chosen two following hypothesis. Hypothesis 2: The main source of information about reproductive health among female students of secondary grammar schools is professional literature. Hypothesis 3: The main source of information about reproductive health among female students of secondary vocational schools is the internet. The third objective of this thesis wasto compare how female students of various secondary schools are informed about sexually tramsmitted diseases. For this objective was set Hypothesis 4: Female students of secondary grammar schools have more information about sexually transmitted diseases than female students of secondary vocational schools. Data collection was carried out by quantitative research method and its technique was used for questionary creating by the author of this work. The research was proceeded at two secondary grammar schools and two secondary vocational schools in South Bohemia Region. The questionaries were distributed in March 2015. The total number of female respondents involved 160, 79 of secondary vocational schools and 81 of secondary grammar schools. The collected data were processed in Microsoft Excel 2010 program. Chi-square test with 5% level of significance was used for verification of hypothesis validity. The research results showed that female respondents of secondary grammar schools have better knowledge about reproductive health than the ones of secondary vocational schools. Family acted as the main source of information about reproductive health in both groups. There are no differences at respondents´ knowledge in the area of sexually transmitted diseases. Based on the research analysis, Hypothesis 1 was confirmed, the other specified analysis were refuted. With respect to the research results, it would be appropriate that midwives give more attention on education of girls in the reproductive health area. They should primarily emphasize education of adolescents in area of sexually transmitted diseases. Together with it, they should focuse on education in breast self-examination. This bachelor thesis can serve as teaching material for future students of Midwifery. It can also be used as a basis for preparing lectures for adolescent girls.
The Issue of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care among Young People
BŘEZKOVÁ, Markéta
The dissertation is focused on the issue of contraception and reproductive health of young people. I therefore chose this topic of my dissertation because it interests me and it is also very current topic. I have specified the research in various types of secondary schools in Cesky Krumlov. The main aim of my dissertation was to map the knowledge of hormonal contraception and proven possible differences in sexual self behaviour in adolescent girls attending different high schools in Cesky Krumlov. The research was conducted using anonymous questionnaires that were distributed to girls aged 17 to 19 years. For my dissertation, I set four hypotheses that have been statistically confirmed. The results were interesting and there had been statistically significant differences in the level of knowledge about the risks of hormonal contraception among female students of Secondary Schools and other female students of Health Secondary Schools. In addition, the Vocational School students begin sexual life before other students of Secondary schools. Also the most common method of protection at first sexual intercourse is condom, but the most preferred contraceptives in adolescent girls, regardless of the type school studied, is hormonal contraception. According to the responses of girls we can see the differences in their own sexual behaviour, which is, in most cases conscientiously. Girls, however, are not sufficiently informed about hormonal contraception they use. I would advise to bring more lectures into schools about the positives and risks of hormonal contraception in general and also about all contraceptive options.
Shares of Particular Educational Factors on the Awareness of Pupils in the 9th Grade in Primary School in Český Krumlov on the Topic of Sexually Transmitted diseases.
BŘEZKOVÁ, Markéta
The sexually transmitted diseases represent an important and extensive problem at present; to the prevention of this problem, not sufficient attention is devoted each time. For this reason, I focused my bachelor thesis on the topic Share of individual social and educational factors on the knowledge of pupils of the 9th classes of the upper primary schools in Český Krumlov. One of the conditions, how to improve the prevention of these diseases is the knowledge of the share of individual educational and social factors influencing, in relation to these diseases, acquiring the knowledge by pupils and creation their opinions and attitudes. The target of the thesis is to evaluate the share of individual educational factors (school, family, media, groups of identically old pupils) in acquiring and development of knowledge of pupils in upper primary schools in Český Krumlov about sexually transmitted diseases. Simultaneously the reserves in the quality of the educational activities of individual factors are being searched. The share of the school, family, media and other factors in acquiring knowledge and creation of attitudes to the risk of the sexually transmitted diseases was found out by the quantitative method. The representative target group of pupils of the 9th classes of the primary schools in Český Krumlov was addressed in the form of anonymous questionnaires. Simultaneously, specially created questionnaires for pedagogues were distributed. The pupils learn the most information about sexually transmitted diseases at school, but their attitudes to this topic are also influenced by the family, friends and media, in the not negligible extent. This bachelor thesis can contribute, as source of topical information to the followed issue, to deepening the professional knowledge of the teachers of primary schools, employees in the field of public health protection and parents, participating in the prevention of the sexually transmitted diseases.
Evaluation of the vaccination against the papilomaviruses at the students of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice
SHÝBALOVÁ, Ivana
The diploma work concerns the actual problem of papilomavirus infection and the vaccination against its originators. The gravity lies in the human-organism attack and the further proceeding changes in the human cells and mucous membranes. In many cases this leads to the pre-cancer states or even worse, to the cervix carcinoma. The work is divided into two parts, first theory, and second practice. The aim was to evaluate the vaccination against papilomviruses at the female-students of the University firstly, secondly to map the topic knowledge, and thirdly to monitor if the female-students visit their gynaecologist on regular basis. The theory concerns all the epidemiology, virology, clinical and diagnosis aspects of the papilomavirus infections, including the vaccination as a prevention possibility. In practice, there were run two anonymous questionnaire searches, first aimed on the female-students, second on the male-students only. The questions were focused on the level of the topic knowledge and the level of the both sex students vaccination, including the reasons of their non-interest in the possible vaccination, next the frequency of the girls? screenings in the gynaecologist practices. The research proved certain level of the respondents? topic knowledge and compared the existing differences among faculties. Another research conclusion is that the vaccination of the female-respondents is not very high, only 23,75% has already been vaccinated against the virus. Many young ladies underestimate the vaccination, and have more or less serious reasons why not to have them vaccinated. More than half of the respondents don?t do so because of the vaccine high price. This work should serve the women and young ladies, but also the young men as a source of the needed information. This means to improve the virus knowledge itself, its means of transmission, the diagnosis process or the treatment possibilities; overall the ways of primary prevention, with the ways of infection expanding prevention.
Primary Prevention of Sexuality and Sexually Transmitted Diseases in Příbram Region
HROMÍŘOVÁ, Andrea
This bachelor thesis is called ?Primary Prevention of Sexuality and Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the Region of Příbram.? The aim of primary prevention is to prevent undesirable phenomena or first experience with them and to delay the first contact with them as late as possible. This prevention in primary schools is provided by school prevention methodologists who ensure appropriate activities for their pupils. Early initiation of sexual life is a major problem at present. Adolescents often feel physically mature, however, from the psychological point of view, they are not. They seek acquaintances and change them very often and thus, increase the risk of unwanted pregnancies and related abortions, the risk of infection by a sexually transmitted disease and other risks. The main objective of my thesis was to map primary prevention of sexual education and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases in the region of Příbram. In the part of the thesis called ? The Current State? historical development of this issue, current paradigms, the general concept of prevention of sexuality, the target group of primary prevention, possibilities of contraception and sexually transmitted diseases are characterized. The data for my thesis were collected by quantitative research, by the method of questioning and by means of an anonymous questionnaire. The research sample was selected in two primary schools ? in a primary school in Příbram and in a rural primary school in the region of Příbram. The respondents were pupils from the ninth grade and were approached during their lessons and in my presence. Thus, the return of 100 % of questionnaires was ensured. The key fact, revealed by the research, is that the subject of sexual education is realized more in primary schools in the town of Příbram and it is not realized almost at all in the rural primary schools. In contrast, the fact that the participation of pupils in a prevention program that is realized outside the scope of the subject of sexual education and is focused on risky sexual behaviour is lower in the primary school of Příbram, compared to the rural primary schools of the region of Příbram. The results of my bachelor thesis can be used for further research and also for implementation of more effective primary prevention.
